Writing from Airlie Beach in Queensland, Australia
Seems like and age ago now but our
few days in Bangkok was fun, limiting our temple visits to only one, Wat Pho and the Golden Bhuda and taking
in the river and the tourist mecca of the Kao San road. We even managed a night
out with a few buckets of cocktails and a stumble home, while the kids enjoyed
room service back at the hotel.

From Bangkok we headed south
through Thailand to Phuket spending a few days at Kata beach, on the west coast
of the island, fantastic beaches but
spoilt by too many tourists and overdevelopment.

Then across the island to Serenity Resort
where we had been offered a free stay by a one of Steve’ s very generous
customers, Dmtry Merculov. (thanks again Dmtry). Absolutely fabulous resort right on the beach
with great pool, food and service.

| Last day of luxury at Serenity |
After our 4 days of luxury we spent
one night in Phuket town en route to the airport and our flight back to
Singapore. Not enough time to appreciate it but Phuket old town looked like a place
with some good bars and restaurants housed in old colonial buildings.
Back to Singapore and we were
very kindly put up by Arpita and David who cooked us a lovely meal and shared
some of their best malt whiskey. Also attempted a visit to the Botanical
Gardens however this was cut short by the usual afternoon monsoon rains and we all got a thorough soaking.

Our late evening flight from
Singapore arrived in Darwin at 4am where we had to change planes for the final
leg into a hot and sticky Cairns where we arrived a few hours later.........................
